Adult Achiever's will engage with middle and high school program participants with the YMCA of Rock River Valley. Volunteer Ambassadors will articulate, safeguard, model and promote the values and mission of the YMCA. Volunteers will work with youth in a group setting chaperoning during enrichment activities, facilitating/participating in teen program sessions, mentoring, providing programming feedback. The volunteer will serve youth at the Good Shepherd YMCA and SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA, in addition to off-site mentor opportunities. As a mentorship and support ambassador at the YMCA you will be invited to interview for this volunteer role. All ambassadors are asked to complete a national background check, and child abuse prevention and protection training. The age requirement for ambassador volunteers is 21 years of age or older. Join the Camp HOPE and Project Pathways team in serving children exposed to domestic violence.  Ambassador volunteers will engage in various activities, from field games to rock climbing, tubing, high and low ropes, art projects, and silly camp songs as they encourage children to step out of their comfort zone and conquer new challenges, fostering personal growth and resilience. Join us on October 24 at the Northeast Family YMCA for a fun-filled evening of Halloween festivities! We need trunk decorators to decorate a trunk for a family atmosphere with appropriate theme, treat distributors to hand out goodies, and event helpers for setup and activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and create lasting memories for all! As a volunteer champion at the YMCA you will be greeted the day of the event by a YMCA Leader. The YMCA of Rock River Valley is seeking a passionate and motivated Youth Sports Intern to assist in implementing and managing our NHL Street Hockey program and youth sports tournament(s). This internship provides hands-on experience in sports program development, event coordination, marketing, and community engagement. The intern will work closely with the Youth Sports program staff and directors to ensure successful execution of both programs. Key Responsibilities: Program Development & Execution: Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing the NHL Street Hockey program and the Annual Campaign Dodgeball Tournament(s). Marketing & Promotion: Help develop promotional materials, social media content, and marketing strategies to increase program awareness and registration. Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination: Assist in recruiting and training volunteer coaches and officials to support program operations. Participant & Community Engagement: Build relationships with participants, parents, and community partners to foster excitement and long-term engagement. Event Operations: Organize equipment, schedules, and logistics to ensure smooth execution of league play and tournament activities. Registration Management: Assist with participant registration, answer inquiries, and track attendance. Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with YMCA staff and program directors to uphold the mission and values of the YMCA. Qualifications: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Marketing, Education, or a related field. Passion for youth development, sports programming, and community engagement. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team. Experience in sports coaching, event planning, or marketing is a plus. CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Internship Details: Commitment: 10-15 hours per week (flexible based on program needs). Location: Good Shepherd YMCA (with potential off-site event locations). Compensation: Unpaid (academic credit available).
